The Trout

by

Nancy L. Dorner

Look!
See that elusive shadow
undulating
With the water’s waving
motion.
Close beside the weedy bank.
Is it a fish?
Or only denser weeds
that sway and cause
a deeper shadow-play
I may perceive as hiding
fish or …
or what?
What dark dream detected
spectre
lurks between the
slimy, slippery green
of water weed and sliding
stream?
It seems strangely
menacing,
that dark, dream-thing
quietly waiting there.
Silently writhing.

Money by Nancy L. Dorner

$ Money $
Some people control their money.
They conserve.
They spend only when it’s unavoidable,
Like Ken.
Some people
Are controlled by their money.
They’re liberal,
Like me.
If I can’t find something
To buy with it,
I’ll give it away.
My motto:
The love of money is the root of all evil.
Get rid of it as fast as you can!
